Review
Existing Payments System:
The Sub-Committee identified the need to review the prevailing situation
in our payments system. To this end, Task Force Units were set up within
the Sub-Committee, each charged with the responsibility of reviewing
the existing payment instruments in the country, identifying their challenges
and making appropriate recommendations to Sub-Committee.
Enhancing
the Existing Payments System:
Based on the lapses identified, the Sub-Committee made recommendations
on how to improve the existing payments system, especially in the areas
of infrastructure, security, and regulations.
New
Payment Instruments:
The Sub-Committee reviewed the payments systems in some developed countries
and based on its findings, recommended new (non-cash) payment instruments
that would meet our unique needs and give end-users more secure, convenient
and cost-effective payment options.
